Description: The monoclonal antibody 3C4 (mIC2/4) recognizes mouse CD102, also known as intercellular adhesion molecule-2 (ICAM-2). CD102, a member of the Immunoglobulin superfamily of receptors with 2 extracellular Ig domains, binds LFA (CD11a/CD18) and Mac-1 (CD11b/CD18), thereby mediating cellular interactions to lymphocytes. CD102 plays a role in NK cytotoxicity and migration, and lymphocyte recirculation. Expression of CD102 is found on most lymphocytes, monocytes and platelets.
The 3C4 (mIC2/4) antibody blocks interaction of lymphocytes with antigen presenting cells.
Applications Reported: This 3C4 (mIC2/4) antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis, and immunohistology staining of frozen tissue sections.
Applications Tested: This 3C4 (mIC2/4) antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. This can be used at less than or equal to 0.25 µg per test. A test is defined as the amount (µg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
Excitation: 488 nm; Emission: 519 nm; Laser: Blue Laser.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
ICAM-2 is a member of the intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) family. All ICAM proteins are type I transmembrane glycoproteins, contain 2-9 immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains, and bind to the leukocyte adhesion LFA-1 protein. ICAM-2 may play a role in lymphocyte recirculation by blocking LFA-1-dependent cell adhesion. It mediates adhesive interactions important for antigen-specific immune response, NK-cell mediated clearance, lymphocyte recirculation, and other cellular interactions important for immune response and surveillance. Several transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. Diseases associated with ICAM2 include Colon Carcinoma In Situ.
